The Mobile Version Of Call Of Duty Warzone Is In The Works

Activision said today that Call of Duty: Warzone, a battle royale first-person shooter, is being developed for mobile devices.

What’s New?

In a blog post, the publisher stated that a mobile version of the popular game is in the works, and that it is searching for positions in engineering and production across its many internal teams.

Activision Central Tech, Activision Shanghai Studio, Beenox, Demonware, Digital Legends Entertainment, and Solid State Studios are among the game’s development teams, according to a graphic in the release.

Activision purchased Digital Legends last year and said that they would be working on a “new mobile product inside the Call of Duty world” alongside Activision Shanghai Studio, Beenox, and Solid State Studios on a “new mobile title within the Call of Duty universe.”

What’s More?

No further details about the mobile version of Call of Duty: Warzone, such as player counts, how it differs from the PC and console versions, or a release date, have been revealed.

During Activision’s conference call last month, industry figure Tom Henderson indicated that not much is known about the game, but that it is “anticipated to debut this year.”

Last month, Activision revealed their plans for the Call of Duty franchise, with the major 2022 title being a direct sequel to the 2019 reboot Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which will be handled by Infinity Ward.

Digging In More Details

In the fall of 2022, a next-gen sequel to Call of Duty: Warzone will be released alongside it, and both will be built on a completely new engine.

Call of Duty: Mobile has had a battle royale mode based on the Blackout map from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 since late last year, so it’ll be fascinating to see what adjustments are made for a standalone release and if Warzone can reach the list of greatest Android games.
